![Happy Black History Month y’all !
This year, in addition to recognizing the traditional figures and moments of Black History, we wanted to also acknowledge the modern day movers and change makers of the culture.
Make sure you check in with #CheckIt all month long for throwback facts, highlights of Black Kings🤴 [and Queens 👸], features of local Champions of Black Excellence, and we’ve even got some trivia to see just how much you really know about the culture.
First and foremost, we had to honor the MAN... the MYTH... our poster boy since 2017...Kendrick Lamar. His poetic songs and intricate lyrics about events that have occurred in his past regarding gang violence, police brutality, Black Lives Matter, self reflection, and many more controversial topics that many artists would avoid have inspired movements and helped spark change for social justice.
